Description

The Lüscher lab at department of basic neuroscience of the University of Geneva, Switzerland, is seeking to hire a data scientist to investigate how the brain integrates reward signalling to generate behaviour. The candidate would analyse a variety of experimental data rooted in visualisation of neurons and synapses, calcium imaging and multi-electrode recordings and high density behavioral observations to understand neuronal dynamics underlying motivated behaviour (e.g. doi: 10.1523/JNEUROSCI.0502-20.2020, and doi: 10.1038/s41586-018-0789-4).

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD and a strong background in one of the following fields: neuroscience, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics.

The candidate will work hand in hand with experimentalists to develop the most stringent approach to analysis of large data sets using AI/ML. The candidate will work with a team of experimental neuroscientists in the Lüscher lab, as well other members of the department of Basic neurosciences. This position will be based at the medical centre of the University of Geneva (CMU), with opportunities to collaborate with groups of neighbouring institutions, such as Campus Biotech, University of Lausanne, and EPFL.

Generous compensation, dependent on experience of the candidate, and the exceptional quality of life of the Lémanic/lake Geneva area makes this position even more attractive.
