Description
Position and Project title:
Postdoctoral position in bioinformatics or computational biology to study damage induced mutagenesis in cancer
Research environment and project
Gustave Roussy, the first European Cancer Centre, recruits a bioinformatics or computational biology postdoctoral fellow at U981 INSERM Unit, Group of Cancer Genomics led By Dr Sergey Nikolaev.
The project is dedicated to the study of clustered mutations in skin cancer and in other cancer types with damage induced mutations.
The postdoctoral fellow will have access to a unique molecular whole genome sequence dataset (DNA) for hundreds of skin tumors. Her/his mission will be to identify clustered mutations associated to different molecular mechanism in order to improve our understanding mutational process in cancer. Model building and validation will also exploit available public databases such as TCGA, ICGC, HARTWIG.
The successful candidate will be supported on the longer term to apply for CNRS/INSERM starting grants and positions in order to establish his/her own research group at Gustave Roussy.
Skills
Applicants should have doctoral experience in human genome data analysis and/or machine learning, with a desire and capacity to acquire complementary expertise. Valued skills for this position include: germline or somatic DNA variation analysis, models simulating genomic mutagenesis and strong statistical background.
In order to apply to CNRS or INSERM starting grants, a solid doctoral and postdoctoral publication track record is necessary.
The postdoctoral fellow will be self-motivated and able to work independently and get actively involved with colleagues of the Gustave Roussy bioinformatic teams.
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics or machine learning.
Contract type:
Initial fixed-term 18-month contract, with possible extension. Salary dependents on experience.
