Description
A position of engineer in bioinformatics is opened in the team of "Epigenomics of microalgae and interactions with the environment” in the UMR CNRS 6286, at the University of Nantes to work and manage large volumes of sequencing data. We are looking for a highly creative and motivated bioinformatics analyst to work on high throughput data including RNA seq, ChIP-Seq, Methylome and meta omics data. Expertise is required in big data integration and interpretation. The ideal candidate will have experience with analysis of large datasets, strong programming skills (R/Bioconductor, Python, Perl, C++, UNIX, Bash scripts) and proficiency in parallel and cloud computing. The work will focus on large-scale analysis of the team's sequencing data on microalgae models and their associated bacterial communities.
This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract
The candidate must be either a biologist with a good experience in bioinformatics, or a bioinformaticist with a strong background in biology. The candidate must have a first experience in the analysis of NGS data (in particular meta transcriptomics and metagenomics) and have strong programming skills, especially in Python or R. He/she must also show an interest in the development of new approaches. Good knowledge of statistics would be a plus.
The candidate must be motivated by the biological questions and willing to interact with the different members of the team. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential so that the candidate can exchange and share knowledge in an environment essentially composed of biologists. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
