A propos d'Inria
Inria est l’institut national de recherche dédié
aux sciences et technologies du numérique. Il
emploie 2600 personnes. Ses 200 équipes-
projets agiles, en général communes avec des
partenaires académiques, impliquent plus de
3500 scientifiques pour relever les défis du
numérique, souvent à l’interface d’autres

with Université Côte d'Azur, the University of Angers and the University of Nantes.

Mission confiée
The goal of the project consists in developing innovative machine learning approaches to better
characterize the clinical and molecular heterogeneities of mithocondrial diseases, and identify
specific molecular signatures through the development of multi-omics analysis.
The project requires the integration of the developed tools within the MitoMatcher database, a
centralized national database dedicated to mithocondrial disease started, with currently more than
3,000 patients with multi-omics information.

Principales activités
Develop processing pipelines for genetics data and meta-data, and extraction of relevant
information such as heteroplasmy, mitochondrial haplogroups, population frequency, and as
well as the corresponding
disease-related phenotypes.
Develop machine learning methods allowing to effectively combine mtDNA variants,
nuclear variants (WES, WGS) and clinical phenotypes, to succesfully identify variants
associated to pathological traits
Access the available national databases and deploy the developed framework in compliance
with data privacy and access restriction.
Validate the methods by using relevant metrics
Communicate the work through scientific publications and dissemination initiatives
Interact with the project's partners and present the work's progress to the consortium
