single-cell RNA-seq TCR-seq BCR-seq autoimmune

Description

A postdoctoral position in Computational Biology is available at the Institut NeuroMyogene. The position is in the context of a RHU grant to Pr J. Honnorat in the Hospices Civils de Lyon.

Research
Our group focuses on the clinical and immunological aspects of autoimmune encephalitis and paraneoplastic neurological disorders (AE/PNS). AE/PNS are a group of rare neurological diseases associated with autoantibodies targeting neuronal antigens. While clinical descriptions in the recent years have improved our knowledge of the natural history and long-term outcomes of most of these diseases, very little is known about the neurobiology and immunopathology of these autoimmune diseases, which prevents the development of therapeutic innovations.
In this context, we aim at increasing our understanding of these diseases by annotating the immune cells present in the patients’ peripheral blood and cerebrospinal fluid, and characterize their respective transcriptome. To do so, we have already started to generate single-cells RNA-seq data for these samples as well as sequencing of the TCR ans BCR sequences to better characterize the clonotype of the immune cells.

Role
The post holder will be involved in the analysis and integration of the single-cell RNA-seq data generated for each patients. He/she will contribute to the design of strategies and the development of algorithms to identifies characteristics of these samples.

Location
The candidate will be at the French Reference Center for autoimmune encephalitis and paraneoplastic neurological syndromes in the Hospital Pierre Wertheimer in Lyon. He will work in collaboration with Bastien Joubert, a clinician-researcher, and Valentin Wucher, a bioinformatician.

Candidate
The candidate will have:
    • a PhD in bioinformatics, computer science or similar;
    • Expertise in bioinformatics analyses, especially in the analysis of single-cells RNA-seq;
    • Analytical and quantitative background and programming skills;
    • Background in immunology will be highly appreciated.
