Description
Bioinformatics for DNA Data Storage
Concerning the job
6-Month full-time Master 2 internship - Starting early 2024
Seeking bioinformatics students (or equivalent)
Location: Paris – 14th Arrondissement
Call closing date: January 30, 2024
The company
Biomemory aims at reducing the carbon footprint of the data-storage industry through biology. Biomemory is a spin-off of CNRS and Sorbonne University. Our ambition is to create an economically viable and eco-friendly DNA data storage solution in order to meet the biggest technological challenge of the next 10 years: storing ever-increasing volumes of data while reducing the ecological impact on the planet by several orders of magnitude (greenhouse gases, electricity consumption, water consumption).
You can find more information on our website: https://www.biomemory.com/
Context of the job
Biomemory is a leading biotechnological company specializing in digital data storage on synthetic DNA. Harnessing the synergy across diverse disciplines such as molecular biology, biochemistry, robotics, and bioinformatics, Biomemory has developed innovative, sustainable technologies that do not rely on petrochemical-derived products for DNA data storage.
Biomemory is creating its own sequencing platform to manage the extensive sequencing data necessary for quality control, research, and development.
The intern will have the opportunity to learn about Oxford Nanopore sequencing and its analysis and pre-processing tools, Cloud Computing, team development with git, orchestrators (Nextflow), and containers (Singularity, Docker).
The mission
Build a fully integrated multiparametric analysis pipeline for DNA sequencing data from third-generation sequencing.
This pipeline will be automatic, efficient, usable by non-expert users, and robust enough to perform data quality control and data analysis and visualization from multiple types of DNA sequencing data.
Development of the pipeline will be guided and tested with experimental datasets produced continuously in-house.
