As a bioinformatics intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in computational biology, contribute to key research efforts, and help shape the tools that drive our discoveries.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews on bioinformatics methods and tools relevant to bacteriophage research.
  • Benchmark specific bioinformatics tools to identify the best options for our automated pipelines and our needs
  • Assist in integrating selected tools into our workflows, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Summarize findings and provide recommendations to guide decision-making in our research team.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (final year) or master’s (first or second year) students in Bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Experience with genomic data and processing with Nanopore/Illumina,
  • Proficiency in BASH and Python or R,
  • Writing and speaking proficiency in English
  • Able to implement, benchmark and evaluate bioinformatics tools
  • Able to interpret the results of operational tasks
  • Familiar with basic concepts in microbiology (bacteria DNA, contigs, genetics, bacterial or
    phage genomics)
  • Able to communicate well their findings in the format of a report
