Description
A engineer position in bioinformatics and biostatistics for high-throughput data analysis is open at the institut Curie Paris (http://www.curie.fr). The proposal is a joint position between the bioinformatics core facility of the U1331 unit « Computational Oncology », and the team «Evolution of centromeres and chromosome segregation» headed by Dr. Ines Drinnenberg.
Context :
Institut Curie is a private non-profit foundation operating a multidisciplinary research center and a hospital specialized in the treatment of cancer. The INSERM U1331 Unit is composed of 100 engineers, researchers and students in bioinformatics, biostatistics, and systems biology. The « Bioinformatic and biostatistical analysis group » of the bioinformatics platform provides a support in high-throughput data analysis in close collaboration with the researchers and clinicians of the institute. The team of « Evolution of centromeres and genome organisation » is part of the Nuclear Dynamics Unit that hosts teams interested in various aspects related to nuclear and genome organization in a range of different organisms and using both wet lab and dry lab approaches. The team will provide support regarding the interpretation of the datasets, directions of research questions and additional aspects related to the underlying biology.
The position is open in the context of an ANR project involving the two teams and aim at deciphering the impact of the 3D genome organisation on genome function and evolution in Lepidoptera. Multiple high-throughput epigenetics data types will be considered such as Hi-C and ChIP-seq data.
Tools used in the study :
• RNAseq: clustering, differential analyses, allele-specific analysis
• ChiP-Seq : peak calling, annotation and differential binding analysis
• Hi-C : analysis of conformation capture data
Missions:
The recruited engineer will ;
• Define bioinformatics and biostatistics strategy for data analysis
• Develop new workflows/tools for Hi-C data analysis
• Analyse, interpret and discuss the bioinfomatic results of the project
• Work in close interactions with bio-informaticians within the bioinformatics group
• Work in close interactions with biologists within the UMR3664 unit
• Participate in group meetings, present work to group members
Profil :
• Advanced university degree (Masters, PhD) in computer science or bioinformatics
• Solid experience in bash, R and Python programming language
• Good experience in biostatistics
• Previous experience in analysis of sequencing data
• Good working knowledge in epigenetics and 3D genome organisation will constitute an advantage
• Good communication skills in English, both oral and written.
